Welcome to Seahorse!
Remote Learning
We are going to be using the Seesaw website/app to support remote learning. We are sending home log in information in the form of a QR code. There will be weekly activities assigned based around the week's topic. You can then upload evidence of the work completed at home so we can see! There will be a pack of work compiled which can be collected from school, including a reading book. Please collect from outside the School Office on Friday's between 9.45 - 10.10am. The QR code can be found in the pack.

Phonics - recap sounds previously learnt (see below). Make and read CVC words with known sounds.
Literacy - draw a picture of your Christmas. Add details to make it interesting. Write a sentence about your picture. Say your sentence to an adult, then say each word slowly and write known sounds. Your adult can remind you to add finger spaces between words and a full stop at the end. Remember to only use capital letters for names and the start of your sentence. (NB: adults - say the letter sounds not names when supporting your child. The children are at different levels with their writing so your child may only be able to recognise initial letter sounds or you could choose to write a label rather than a sentence).
Numeracy - recap number recognition to 5. Count on and back to 5. Count a set of objects up to 5. Find one more / one less to 5. Split numbers up to 5 into 2 parts, e.g 5 can be split into 4 and 1, 3 and 2 etc. You can do this with practical objects, e.g. use 5 cars and split the cars into 2 groups and find different ways to do this.
The following websites have useful activities:

If you have a board game at home with a dice, play with your grown up and see if you can recognise the number on the dice.
Welcome back! This term our topic is ‘Imaginary Worlds’. At the beginning of the term we will be reflecting on Christmas, focusing on toys. During the first week back the children will have the opportunity to bring in a toy they received for Christmas. A timetable for this will be on the classroom window so please look out for it. We will also be learning about dinosaurs, superheroes and pirates! We will be celebrating Chinese New Year too. This year we are taking a different approach to how we teach number skills in Reception. We are following the White Rose programme which involves looking at ‘mastery’ of numbers. This includes looking at the whole number – subitising, breaking into parts etc.
