Home Learning during Lockdown
Starting the week beginning 11th January activities will be put on the Seesaw learning platform and produced as a paper pack weekly. You can collect your paper pack from school each week on a Friday - our timeslot for collection is 1.45 - 2.10. Children can then either upload a picture/evidence of their work for teachers to look at and respond to through Seesaw or return work on a Friday when you collect work for the following week.
Week beginning Tuesday 5th January
In Literacy we will be writing a recount about our Christmas holidays. We will be particularly focussing on using adjectives (describing words) and writing longer sentences with conjunctions (because, but, etc.).
In Phonics we will be focussing on the /n/ sound - n as in nail, ne as in gone and nn as in funny.
In Maths we will be introducing multiplication, the X sign and beginning to learn facts for the ten, five and two times tables.
In our Number Sense mental maths we are focussing on 0 (zero), especially that when we add or subtract 0 the number remains unchanged and when we subtract the same number the answer is 0.
Week beginning 14th December
In Literacy we are sharing some Christmas stories and writing a letter to Rudolph.
In Phonics we are learning different ways of spelling the /oe/ sound - oa as in goat and o as in open.
In Maths we will be revising adding and subtracting with 2-digit numbers, and doing some 'fun' Christmas maths.
In our Number Sense mental maths we will be revising the strategies we have learnt recently - number fact families for 10, five and a bit, using odd and even numbers to add two.
Week beginning 7th December
In Literacy we are learning the rest of the Christmas story, which we will retell / rewrite. We will continue to practice our Christmas poem. At the end of the week we will video this and put it onto the website.
In Phonics we are learning different ways of spelling the /oe/ sound - oe as in toe, split o-e as in home and ow as in grow.
In Maths we will be adding and subtracting with 2-digit numbers. We will be learning to record this in a column.
In our Number Sense mental maths we will be continuing to learn about 'five and a bit' - e.g. 8 is made up of 5 and 3.
Week beginning 30th November
In Literacy we are finding out about Advent and the first part of the Christmas story. We will be begnning to retell the Christmas story and starting to learn a Christmas poem.
In Phonics we are learning two more ways to spell the /i/ sound - y as in hymn and e as in jacket.
