Burnham On Sea Infant School Newsletter    4th April 2025

As always, the term has been busy and filled with lots of exciting learning, topped off by a wonderful Easter Bonnet Parade today.  The children have worked hard throughout the term and are always keen to share with me the opportunities that school life provides. I particularly enjoyed the second of our house enrichment mornings last week when all children worked in small teams within their house teams to create protection for an egg ... before we dropped them from height!  It was a delight to see them collaborating with each other, sharing ideas and coming up with different techniques to protect their egg.

I was especially proud that we received our Opal Play Platinum Award this term.  This is the result of lots of hard work over previous months, to improve our play offer for all our children. As part of our work with the PINS project (Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools) we also recently had an audit of our play provision which celebrated the different ways we meet the needs of all children in school.

This term we have also established our pre-school play, chat and connect sessions with Mrs Rendell every Friday morning which are an absolute delight! It is wonderful to have potential future pupils come in with their adults to use school facilities.

School reports will be sent out straight after the Easter holidays.  To bring us in line with the rest of the Trust this will be our full report.  In the summer term you will receive an end-of-year report with end-of-year assessment details. Links to reports will be sent out on the first day back.  Please contact the school office if you have changed your email address at all so we can ensure you receive a copy of your child's report.

Have a wonderful Easter break

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the 22nd April 2025

A small group of reception children and one of our year 2 children went on a visit to Tudor Lodge Nursing Home to show the residents our newly hatched chicks this afternoon.  We are so grateful to the  staff and the residents who made us feel so welcome and treated us to refreshments.  The children were so proud to hold the chicks and show them to the residents, sharing their names and information about the chicks and the hatch process.  The chicks will have a sleepover at the Nursing Home where they will be cared for before returning to school on Monday.

Carla was very excited to share her achievement with you from her first gymnastics competition—2nd place at the Southwest Acrobatic Prelims! She loves gymnastics and has been practicing for a year.

Thank you for your appreciation and support in her journey!

We are pleased to announce that George, one of our Reception students, has won a gold medal at the Highbridge Festival of the Arts in the Set Verse Speaking  category. His hard work and dedication paid off, and he couldn’t be more excited to share this success with all his fellow Burnham Infants who participated in the event as well. It’s wonderful to see our students shine and support each other in their creative endeavors. Well done, George.
