From the Headteacher’s Desk

As we reach the end of another busy and exciting half term, I want to take a moment to reflect on all the incredible achievements of our school community. It has been a period filled with learning, performances and festivities, and I am incredibly proud of the way our pupils and staff have embraced every opportunity.

Celebrating Student Success
Our pupils have excelled across the curriculum, showing their commitment to the school values of being kind, curious and dedicated.  Autumn term assessments were shared with parents just before the holidays. Please speak with your child's class teacher if you have any questions.  There will also be an opportunity for a parents consultation meeting before the next half term holidays.

Highlights from the Half Term

  • Christmas performances and celebrations

  • A fantastic range of PTFA events, including a panto in school, a school disco and an amazing Winter Fair

  • Opportunities for children to represent the school eg. Reception children singing at the local old people's home, children representating the school at Burnham on Sea's Remembrance Parade

  • Maths in Action sessions: Parental awareness sessions about how we teach maths so that we can work together to get the best outcomes for children.

Staff Achievements
I would also like to acknowledge the dedication of our staff, who continue to provide the highest standards of teaching, care, and support. Their commitment ensures that every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Looking Ahead
As we head into the Christmas holidays, I encourage everyone to rest, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming our pupils back, ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities in the next half term.

Thank you for your continued support in making Burnham On Sea Infant School such a vibrant and thriving community. Together, we are shaping a positive and inspiring learning environment for every child.

Wishing you all a happy and restful Christmas. Happy New Year!

School In Action Sessions

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our maths in action sessions last half term.   Feedback shared included 'how useful it was to know the language and equipment we use in school' and 'I have lots of ideas for games we can play at home which will help with their maths'.

You previously provided some really useful feedback about how we could improve our school in action sessions further> We listened to your feedback and implemented the following changes:

 - Separate 'parent only' 'debrief' session providing an opportunity to ask questions about why teaching was done in a particular way.

- providing recordings of lessons / things that can be done at home to support for those unable to attend - These have been shared on Reach More Parents

-possibility of afternoon sessions - the recent maths in action were held before pick up

- possibility of school providing more resources for parents to use at home - free resource packs sent home for all those who attended/requested a pack

This half term our 'In Action' sessions will be looking at phonics/handwriting/reading.

We will once again have dedicated sessions for each year group where you will be able to see how we teach different aspects to each year group and the resources and vocabulary we use.

Dates of sessions will be shared when we return after the holidays.
