Role: Chair of Governors, Local Authority Governor
My name is Sam Stockham, I started as a parent governor whilst my children were at the school. I am currently now a Local Authority governor and also chairperson. I have also been a member of the Somerset Governor Strategic group for a year.
I worked in the travel industry for many years but, then qualified as a Teaching Assistant and recently qualified as a Teacher and work in another local school.
My children attended Burnham Infants and I was impressed with the school, that I felt I wanted to give something back to the community and that is why I became a governor.
The prospect of our school and its success is dependent on staff, parents, children and governors. As a governor I would like to ensure that we continue the good practice and build upon our reputation as a school for the future.
Name: Margaret Scott
Role : Vice Chair, Co-opted Governor
I am married with 2 adult sons and am now retired although I do a range of voluntary work which includes my work as a governor. I am an ex infant-teacher so have retained my interest in education and was delighted to be asked to be a governor for the school where I last taught. I have been a governor for many years and was Chair for 5 years. It has been quite an experience getting to know the school from a different perspective, interesting and extremely rewarding. I remain very proud of what we achieve at Burnham Infants and am committed to supporting the school as the whole team continually strive to provide ever better, fun and enjoyable education for our children.
